While attending Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference this week, I heard Satya Nadella, Kevin Turner and other Microsoft executives urging partners to step up to the plate in this "mobile-first, cloud-first world". It's a space Acumatica has been playing in for a while now and continues on an innovative path with our new Cloud xRP Platform.[Click to continue...]
Acumatica was built to be intuitive and easy-to-use. However, there are lots of features that users might not be using to their full potential. Richard Duffy, VP of Partner Strategy and Enablement at Acumatica, has created a series, Tech Tips, to answer some of users’ most common questions.[Click to continue...]
Cloud is changing the way small and medium-sized companies do business. But what is cloud and what does it mean for ERP?
The Innovation Cycle
Business process automation has evolved with the invention of new disruptive technologies. Companies that harness the power of new technology are able to gain an advantage over competitors. The key is knowing when to adopt – too soon and you will spend more time on technology than your business – too late and you will be at a competitive disadvantage.
Innovation and ERP
ERP has evolved from the days of clunky user interface, to the early days of SaaS, to the promise of Cloud ERP software. Key technological improvements driving ERP change include moving from DOS to Windows, maturation of web technology, internet ubiquity, server virtualization, and the proliferation of mobile devices. These technologies have shaped new software that allows employees to work anywhere, on any device with a browser.
Engineering is the backbone of any technology company. And as companies grow, it is inevitable that engineering processes change from its start-up days. As someone who’s led engineering teams in smaller and larger companies, I’ve seen first hand how that evolves. We can learn a lot from looking at the experiences of engineering teams at start-ups.[Click to continue...]

In yesterday’s post, Doug Hollenback of Intuitive TEK explained why he chose to partner with Acumatica. Today, he talks about the onboarding process and how the partnership is built for success.
Acumatica’s Onboarding Process
Acumatica’s onboarding process was very smooth. We worked with some great Acumatica staff to ensure that we had the information, materials, and processes to make our partnership successful. The Acumatica training was top notch: Intense, but very valuable. We did a combination of on-site training and online Acumatica University classes followed by instructor reviews.
Our background made it easy for us to get up to speed on Acumatica’s system quickly. The usual training process is around three months, but we did it in half that time. We had Acumatica train three of our consultants, a process that took three weeks. We even pulled consultants off of billable projects, but it was certainly worth the investment. They received certification in the core Acumatica solution and then took additional specialized courses, such as project accounting and distribution, for elective credits to be certified broadly across the applications.[Click to continue...]
When our company, Intuitive Technologies, was looking for a vendor to launch a cloud ERP component of our business, I expected the research process to be intense, which it was. I expected to narrow our options down to a couple of vendors, which I did. I did not expect that one vendor would stand head and shoulders above the competition, making the choice a “no-brainer,” but that’s exactly what happened. Acumatica offered us such a strong partnership opportunity that there was no way we could pass it up.
I had been implementing and selling Tier 1 Oracle ERP products for over 13 years; before that I was a controller for a series of small businesses, including a non-profit. My friend Brian Storrs implemented and sold Oracle with me, but eventually broke away and formed Intuitive TEK to sell and implement Adaptive Planning, a SaaS forecasting, planning, and budgeting solution. Intuitive TEK was hugely successful from the beginning, closing more than 100 deals in the first couple of years.
Brian asked me to come on board and help develop an accounting-focused cloud ERP solution for Intuitive TEK to market – using the same model he was using for the Adaptive Planning side of the business. We needed a quality ERP vendor to partner with. I began my due diligence and researched various cloud ERP options. Eventually, I narrowed the options down to three vendors with the most traction in the cloud space: FinancialForce.com, NetSuite, and Acumatica.[Click to continue...]
Is charging Cloud ERP by the number of users rather than by the amount of Cloud ERP they use fair?
Fairness is something we all want and expect. Whether it’s buying a new car or paying monthly bills, everybody believes in receiving a quality product at a reasonable price. It only makes sense! When things are unfair, we all know it. Why should you get charged for growing your business?
It wouldn’t make sense if your water utility bill was based on the number of plants you have in your yard rather than the amount of water you use per month. What if you want to expand your garden add new plants? It’d be unfair if you had to pay for every extra flower you add.
When Christmas rolls around, your electricity bill shouldn’t be based on each individual person that admires your Christmas lights. That would be unfair. It only makes sense to pay for the total amount of electricity you use.
If you decided to throw a party, would it be fair if the number of guests in your home determined the size of your mortgage? You shouldn’t be penalized for having additional people in your household. Your mortgage should be based on the total value of your home.[Click to continue...]
