Director of Finance and Operations
We are looking for a hands-on finance and operations leader to take full responsibility for ensuring the financial and operational integrity of the business through the provision of appropriate financial management information and through the management of operating activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Facilities, and Legal.
The ideal candidate will have strong financial foundation (ex: CPA / public accounting) combined with a broad set of operational experiences within an early-stage, growing company environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and manage periodic closing process
- Develop, adapt, and manage financial reporting structure
- Establish budgeting process and drive annual planning activities
- Manage cash flow projections and daily treasury needs
- Prepare the company for its first audit
- Take responsibility for tax structure and tax filings
- Manage daily accounting operations
- Support the CEO with preparation of materials for investors and board meeting
- Take responsibility for tactical HR needs (offer letter, payroll, benefits, filings, etc)
- Take a leadership position to ensure the company has the right operating environment (facilities, IT, 3rd party service providers)
Required Skills and Talents
- BS in accounting, business, or related field
- Public accounting/audit experience or CPA a plus
- Experience in software or technology industry is desirable
- Demonstrated success in controllership and financial leadership positions
- In depth knowledge of US GAAP and accounting regulations
- Operational experience with matters including HR, IT, facilities, legal, etc.
- Ability to interact effectively with executive team, auditors, bankers, and others
Location and Travel
- Washington, DC area (preferred)
- Some travel required
