Acumatica Summit 2018 is our premier cloud ERP event of the year. It’s a time we set aside to focus exclusively on our cloud ERP products and solutions. We highlight what we’re working on and what’s coming along with providing amazing training and networking opportunities. Acumatica Summit 2018 – coming January 28 through February 2, 2018 – is the fourth Summit I’ve had the privilege of attending and it’s a fun (and busy) time of year for everyone here at Acumatica.
It takes a lot of hard work to put together an event of this magnitude, but it’s not considered labor when you enjoy the end result. I believe anyone who attends our Summits leaves feeling the same way, and I encourage both past and potential attendees to register for Acumatica Summit 2018.
It’s an event I consider a necessity for accelerating growth and success in the cloud. I’ve attended many conferences and events from different companies, both large and small. I’ve been to Microsoft Build, Amazon re:Invent, Google Cloud, and the IBM Watson conferences. When I say you should attend Acumatica Summit 2018, I do so with a lot of experience behind me!
Acumatica Summit 2018 offers community development
At Acumatica Summit 2018, attendees have the opportunity to make amazing connections with industry peers, experts, analysts, and our leadership teams. It’s the place where our entire community of Customers and Partners gathers in one location at one time, focusing solely on collaboratively ensuring your success in the cloud. These relationships – both professional and personal – are forged through common goals and the shared passion for what cloud ERP can do for your business.
These relationships can also last a lifetime. I first realized this when I walked into an elevator on the Sunday of a past Summit and encountered two Acumatica Partners from different regions in North America. They each greeted me and then resumed their discussion about their families. These Acumatica Partners have known each other in this broader ecosystem for over 20 years!
It’s this type of genuine friendship that can develop at Acumatica Summit 2018. In fact, I like to equate our Summit experience to that of an extended family reunion where everyone is glad to reunite and spend quality time together. Attendees have the chance to share their honest expression of appreciation, feedback, and criticism in an environment that encourages the joint success of this ecosystem while simultaneously sharing in each other’s knowledge and experience. It also helps you understand Acumatica’s culture and the value that our organization places on community.
This authentic collaboration is something I look forward to every single year.
Acumatica Summit 2018 points to the future
Just as building relationships with other attendees, as well as with VARs, OEM Partners, ISVs, and the Acumatica leadership is an important aspect of Acumatica Summit 2018 for you (and for me), so is focusing on what we’re working on, what’s coming out, and how they affect your business’ future.
Because Acumatica is committed to being a customer-centric organization and to providing you the best cloud ERP solution, keeping ahead of those needs with new, value-adding features through cutting-edge technology is crucial. This means we’re always working on improvements for our customers, such as Acumatica 2017 R2. Our CEO, Jon Roskill, had this to say during last year’s Summit, “We are a tech company at our core. We love technology – love to push boundaries with it.”
At Acumatica Summit 2017, we demonstrated a Skype bot interaction, a Blockchain example using Acronis, and an Amazon Alexa integration. This emphasis on what lies ahead is one of the things I enjoy most as I prepare for each new Summit; I love presenting the cool, new features that may or may not yet be available but will be something we’ll bring to the platform in a few years.
The Summit is the only place you can learn about these innovations as well as engage firsthand with the tools you can use to improve your business processes and outcomes.
Acumatica Summit 2018 expands its scope
Traditionally, our past Summits were largely geared to our Partner audience. A few years back, we expanded it and included specific content and tracks for our Customers. This included a dedicated session on our xRP platform discussing how to build a system and integrations; there was standing room only and we recognized the need for this type of opportunity.
We then initiated our very first Hackathon. The Hackathon pits teams – made up of both Developers and non-Developers – against each other, with each team trying to create a winning real-world business solution (writing spec, code, and user doc) in a certain timeframe. They were assigned an Acumatica subject matter expert (SME) to advise them through the process. The participation and excitement exceeded our expectations!
This year, we’re expanding the Hackathon. Instead of just four hours to work on a project, teams will have 24 hours, starting on Saturday, January 27th (something to think about when registering for Acumatica Summit 2018!).
In addition to this Hackathon expansion, we’ve created a separate Developer track based on feedback from you. Stay tuned for more information!
And we’re excited to introduce an opportunity at this year’s Summit for members of our community to give talks during specific breakouts. The standard breakout sessions with Acumatica developers, engineers, and product managers will still take place, but community members giving lightning talks (TED Talk-style, 10-15 mins) on a particular domain (working out to about 4 – 5 an hour) will be new. Acumatica Summit 2018 promises to be a great experience
I don’t want to forget to mention that we honor the Acumatica MVPs (Most Valuable Professionals) at the Summit. The nominations for those in our community who exhibit a passion for our Acumatica product and platform through their willingness to help other Customers, Partners, and Developers as well as those who participates in various other forums (such as webinars) are now open. Additionally, we’re launching a Developer MVP program this year to provide a badge of distinction. More information here.
It’s no secret that I believe our Summit is a don’t miss event, and this year’s location – Nashville, Tennessee – is another reason you should attend. Though I’ve traveled to Tennessee many times, I never made it to the Music City. I can’t wait to check out the many attractions along with our venue, the Omni Nashville Hotel.
