Acumatica Summit 2024: Technical Breakout Sessions—Not Just for Developers Anymore

A wonderful consequence of the technology era is the breadth and impact that coding and software development has had on our lives, from the personal computer to the mobile phone to automation of business processes. Even so, these significant technological advancements have often been shrouded in secrecy, but thanks to low code/no code tools, greater technical sophistication, and the expansion of computer science education, the software development universe is no longer the exclusive domain of brilliant coders.

Software development continues to change in exciting ways, and these changes are allowing business process experts to adapt and configure solutions so that they can unleash new areas of business efficiencies in the workplace. To help current, new, and future members of the Acumatica Community understand and manage the ongoing technological evolution, we offer them year-round support and extensive resources,  which includes our annual Acumatica Summit.

Evolving and Relevant Summit

Acumatica Summit 2024—which is now only a week away—has evolved from past events to provide attendees with the time, resources, information, and contacts to help manage the changes that are shaping the current technology landscape. When planning our annual cloud ERP event, we recognize broader trends and adapt our programs and approaches accordingly.

This includes expanding this year’s Summit to a full three-day experience, giving attendees more time and opportunities to experience, connect and learn. In addition, we’ve made a few adjustments to our breakout sessions that focus on specific industries.

For example, in past years, Summit featured a track that was exclusively for Developers. While there will be the same focus on the issues and educational content that are important to developers, we have a group of “technical” sessions that are great for developers but accessible to other roles as well.

With three full days of breakout sessions (nearly 100 in all), there are more opportunities to find what attendees are looking for—whether it be industry specific information or the technical content that helps them understand the features and capabilities that run their businesses. The expanded agenda will help them address how advanced technology can help businesses manage their industry-specific issues.

Summit Breakout Specifics

So that attendees know what Summit 2024 has to offer, we’ve recently published several articles covering the breakouts that are available in the construction, manufacturing, distribution, and retail industries. Today, we’re focusing our attention on the great line-up of sessions and experiences that are more technical in nature and applicable to developers but are valuable for all.

Summit will be featuring 14 sessions specifically tailored to shed light on the technical features, trends, and innovations that are defining the industry. These sessions are an opportunity to dive deep into the features and capabilities provided by Acumatica’s Industry Editions, which are tailored to every organization’s particular needs.

In addition to an exciting session that will provide a sneak peek at Acumatica’s new UI, there are additional topics core to the technical aspects of product development and configuration, including:

  • How Acumatica’s platform keeps your business competitive.
  • Best practices for integrating REST APIs and Visual Studio.
  • Optimizing the mobile app experience.
  • Transforming customizations to Low-Code/No-Code solutions.
  • Best practices for using custom API endpoints.

These various topics are being presented in three different types of sessions: Informational, Interactive, and Focused Learning:

  1. Informational: Sessions with the latest industry trends, product details, feature specifics and issue background specifically designed to increase knowledge of Acumatica and understanding of technology.

Example Session: Data Security. Organizations must ensure all proper and necessary procedures and policies are in place to optimize data security and minimize attack surfaces. In this session, attendees will learn about common security missteps, what to do about them, what an attack surface is, and how to secure it from hackers. The session will also cover common misconceptions about security standards, what security factors really matter, and what best practices businesses should employ to secure their information and protect against intrusion.

  1. Interactive: Sessions structured for participant engagement and the exchange of ideas, opinions and information, typically featuring a panel, group discussion, or roundtable format. Provides a platform for presenters and participants to share their insights and experiences and respond to questions.

Example Session: Acumatica Technical Roadmap. This session will give attendees an opportunity to interact with Acumatica’s technical decision-makers, hear the latest information and updates about Acumatica’s technical roadmap, and get a sneak peek of key initiatives for the xRP Platform in 2024–2025.

  1. Focused Learning: Sessions providing an in-depth look into common and sometimes complex business process requirements, covering scenarios and designed to alleviate business pain points.

Example Session: No-Code Customizations: A Sneak Peek at Acumatica’s Modern UI. There is a lot of attention and “buzz” around Acumatica’s Modern UI, which will soon be replacing the existing Web-based UI. In this session, attendees will see how their favorite screens will look when the Modern UI is released and learn how easy it will be to make no-code screen modifications in the Modern UI.

Beyond the Breakout Sessions

Beyond the changes we’ve made to our breakout sessions, we’re expanding the focus of our very popular Hackathon. Specifically, teams will be tasked with positively impacting our global community by incorporating four critically important Sustainability Development Goals.

We’re so excited about this year’s sustainably focused applications that we’re increasing the cash awards to winners, and to enhance the competition even further, we’ll also be providing the winning teams with additional funds that they can donate to a sustainability charity of their choice.

Additionally, we’ve opened the Hackathon to every member of the Acumatica Community. Marketers, implementation partners, system engineers, technical sales reps, work process experts and others are invited to join our developers in the Hackathon fun and to help us make an impact in our local and global communities. The Acumatica Community whether technical, developer, or non-technical are all critical to Acumatica’s success. Developers will still have the Virtual Developer Conference this Summer to delve deeper into specific developer topics.

Join Us at Acumatica Summit 2024

At Summit 2024, attendees will explore compelling topics, continue professional education, and boost their skills and knowledge, which we believe will help them in their business roles as well as help them expand their business opportunities. And these opportunities will be enhanced by the fun, engaging, and luxurious atmosphere provided by the Wynn Las Vegas. Ultimately, the Summit experience is for those interested in understanding the magic that is technology, and we’re here to make it a reality!
